Confirmation at Grace is a three-year retreat-based ministry that is intentional about building relationships between youth and God, youth and their peers, and with caring adults. We seek to support parents as they empower their children to affirm their baptism and continue their life-long journey of faith, and in the life of the church. Youth affirm their faith during worship in the spring of their 8th grade year.
The components of this retreat-based program combines:
Monthly Meets - 4 Sundays at Grace
Retreats - overnight at Grace in the fall and one in the winter offsite.
Special Topic Retreats - in January (7th-8th graders over MLK Weekend and 6th graders a Sunday retreat at Grace)
Lenten Worship and Meet with Mentors
Summer Camp
*This form signs your Confirmation youth up for the October retreat, monthly meets, and 6th grade January retreat. Retreats that require payments you will sign up for separately and pay, or request a scholarship.
List grade as the grade your student will be entering this fall.
Parent/Guardian Ministry Form
Parents are invited and needed to help out in the following, meaningful ways. Each parent/family should plan to sign up for at least one of the categories below.
· Serve as a Confirmation Small Group Leader - lead small group discussion at Monthly Meets.
· Lunch Team - Provide lunch and a snack for one of the five Sunday Monthly Meets.
· Drive and help lead February Retreat - you will need to provide information for a background/driving check, Stay for the overnight and help with activities, games, small group discussions.
PLEASE NOTE: Grace Lutheran Church’s insurance company requires following a number of risk management procedures, as detailed in GLC’s Safe Child Policy. The following are requirements for adult leaders supporting ministry with minors:
- Being a member of Grace Lutheran Church for six months or longer before working with children or youth.
- Completing an“Adult Worker with Minors Application”, to be kept on file at GLC.
- Reading and signing a copy of the GLC Safe Child Policy.
In addition, Grace does background screenings on volunteers involved with the nursery, overnight activities, and one-on-one counseling or mentoring of children or youth; screening results will be kept confidential. A copy of the GLC Safe Child Policy can be found online at graceofav.org.
